Check-in counters will generally open 2 hours prior to departure. Please get ready your valid passport, air ticket or booking confirmation, and visa if applicable before proceeding for check-in. Please ensure that your travel documents are in order before leaving the check-in counter.
All checked baggage will be screened by airport security. Passengers should not pack any unprocessed film, weapons, combustible items, explosive materials, toxic or other dangerous substances into their check-in baggage.
Sharp objects such as pocket knife, nail file, box cutter, razor and scissors are not allowed in hand carry baggage, so if you are carrying these items, please pack them into your check in baggage.

Cabin / Hand-carry Baggage Passengers are allowed one piece of hand-carry baggage weighing 7kg or 16 lbs. In terms of size, the bag’s total length, width and height must measure no more than 115cm or 46”. This baggage will be screened right after departure immigration. Our x-ray machines are film safe and thus they will not damage your films or diskettes. Please remove all security items and sharp objects before going through the security screening. You may get more information on security items from the check-in counter staff.

Restricted Baggage Items
International safety measures are in place to protect you and your loved ones when traveling. It is important to comply with these measures, as failure to do so could endanger the safety of all passengers on board the aircraft. It is also an offence if you fail to comply with them.
What is prohibited on board the aircraft?

Firearms of any type including replicas or toys
•
Explosives including fireworks, flares, toy gun caps
•
Gases including compressed gas cylinders, tear gas, mace, pepper sprays, household aerosols
•
Flammable materials including petrol, lighter fuel, paint, thinners, non-safety matches, fire lighters, flammable glue
•
Poisons including weed killers, pesticides, insecticides
•
Corrosive substances including batteries, mercury, drain cleaners
•
Other dangerous goods such as magnetized or radioactive material, toxic or infectious substances like laboratory diagnostic samples
Please have your travel documents (i.e passport, boarding pass etc) ready for inspection by the security officers prior to entry into the Departure Immigration Hall, as well as during immigration clearance.
Unlike in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 where security screening are conducted at the boarding gates, security screening at the BT is located right after departure immigration. You should not have any sharp objects with you, or in your hand carry baggage as the security screening officers will confiscate and
dispose of these items. If you need to carry such items for your trip, please pack them into your check-in baggage.
Passengers with medical conditions who need to carry medical items such as needles or syringes in their hand-carry baggage must be able to produce the appropriate medical proof when requested by the security officers.
Passengers who wish to have fragile items manually inspected instead of x-ray examination may make such requests to the security screening officers.

Boarding gate will open about 30 minutes before the departure time. While waiting, you may enjoy the facilities and services in the Departure Lounge. The walking distance from the Departure Lounge to the furthest gate is no more than 150m and there is no further security screening at the boarding gates.
Upon checking of your passport and boarding pass at the gates, you will then take a short 20 metres walk on the tarmac to board the aircraft via a mobile step.
As a visitor to Singapore, you are entitled to claim back the Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 7% paid on your purchases when you take them home.
There are 2 GST refund operators in the BT, namely Global Refund and Premier Tax Free. Simply spend S$100 or more at any ONE shop carrying 'Tax Free Shopping' or 'Premier Tax Free' logo, and obtain a refund cheque / voucher form the shop. Show the goods together with the refund cheque / voucher, receipts and passport to the Customs officer who is located in the Check-in Hall.
You can choose to have your refund in the form of cash, credit card, or bank cheque. For Global Refund customers, you can also opt for Changi Shopping Vouchers and receive an additional 10% on your refund value.
A handling fee will be deducted from your GST amount for the refund service. DFS administers its own cash refund system and similar rules apply.
All major currencies are accepted at the money changers which are located at the Departure Lounge and Arrival Greeters Hall. Phone cards are also available at the money changers.
